Henry Anthony Galczynski

Henry Anthony Galczynski, age 90, of Taneytown, Maryland, died on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster, Maryland.
Born January 7, 1921 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Joseph and Wladyslawa (nee Gutowski) Galczynski.
He was a parishioner of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Baltimore, and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Taneytown. Henry was a 1939 graduate of the Baltimore Polytechnic High
School during which he served as an apprentice for a local jewler making instruments used in watch and jewelry repair. Following graduation he worked for at Glenn L. Martin Co. during which he enlisted in active duty with the U.S. Navy serving during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Following his service duty he continued working at Glenn L. Martin Co. from 1946-1961 and then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1981.
Surviving are sisters, Wanda G. Rhodes of Taneytown, and Helene G. Vance of Taneytown; brother, Louis J. Galczynski of Fallston; nieces, Dorothy B. Hewlett of Hampstead and M. Frances Bertrand of New Oxford, PA; and many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by siblings, Charles Galczynski, Jeanette Pniewski, Sister Stephanie Galczynski, and Anne Wisniewski.
Graveside services will be private at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Dundalk, MD. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Felician Sisters, 260 South Main St., Lodi, NJ 07644 or SS Cyril & Methodius Seminary, 3535 Indian Trail, Orchard Lake, MI 48324.
Arrangements are by the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, Maryland.
