Helen Ogle Whitmore, age 93, of Westminster, died on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Carroll Hospital Center. Born May 19, 1921 in New Windsor, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late John Buffington and Lottie Mae (Reaver) Ogle. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Arie “Johnnie” C. Whitmore in 2005.
She worked as a store clerk for Mather’s Store, Westminster Shoe Factory, and in alterations for The Hub Store. She was an avid collector of Elvis Presley memorabilia. She loved celebrating the 4th of July with a family pool party and watching fireworks. She was predeceased by a beloved pet Lhasa Apso “Buffy”.
Surviving her are a nephew, Larry Coe and wife Lynn of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; great-niece, Lori Roth and husband Steve of New Oxford, PA; great-nephew, John W. Coe of Reisterstown; and brother-in-law, Charles T. Thomas, Jr. of Westminster.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by sisters, Betty Thomas and June Coe.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
