Helen Elizabeth (Poole) Null, 88, formerly of Taneytown, MD, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Somerford Assisted Living in Frederick.  Born November 18, 1927, in Poolesville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Beall) Poole.  She was the wife of the late Charles Edward Null, Sr., to whom she was married for 53 years.

Helen was a devoted homemaker and farmer’s wife.  She graduated from Poolesville High School in Poolesville, MD, class of 1946.  She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, where she served on several committees, helped with the annual blood drive and taught the Young Adult Sunday School class for many years.  She helped organize the Harney Girls 4-H Club, and served as a local leader.  She was a past-president of the Keysville-Bruceville Homemakers Club, started the first Farmers Market in Westminster, and baked the first homemade bread to sell there.  Helen served on the first Board of Carroll Lutheran Village, served on the Board of the Taneytown Senior Center, and was a member of the Taneytown Farm Bureau Planning Group.  She loved sewing quilts and clothes, having family over for Sunday meals, and the annual family tradition of  pie baking with daughters and grandchildren.  During her later years, she enjoyed painting, and being a loving grandmother to her numerous grandchildren.

Surviving are children, Charles “Ed” Null and wife Lola, Virginia Lee “Deatle” Mullican and husband Ray,  Susie Stambaugh and husband Steve, Judy Fuhrman and husband Carroll, and Tricia Ness and husband Wayne, all of Taneytown, and William Null and wife Kimmie of Gettysburg, PA; sister, Marguerite Angell and husband Albert of Taneytown; brother, Robert Poole, Sr. and wife Pat of Fairfield, PA; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by three infant sons, Michael, Daniel, and Robert; grandson, Ottis Ray Mullican; and brothers, Elgin, Alfred, and Charles Poole.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, 21787, with the Rev. Stacy Marsh officiating.  Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 3-6 p.m. Sunday at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church.
