Helen Bostion Mehring, age 103, of Silver Spring, Md., died on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Bedford Court Assisted Living in Silver Spring.
Born June 3, 1905 in New Midway, Md., Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Olivia (Bankard) Bostion. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Wilbur B. Mehring in 1989.
She was a registered nurse and worked at several hospitals over the years including Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was employed by the Frederick County Health Department, retiring in 1970.
She was past president of the Frederick Business and Professional Women’s Club. She grew up in the Taneytown area and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, travel and ceramics.
Surviving are niece, Betty Mehring Gross (Alfred); nephew, James Mehring (Mary) and their children, David (Kendra) and Susan (Bob); and cousin, Gladys Bell.
A funeral service will be held at 11am Monday, June 9, 2008 in the chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, Md. with the Rev. Nicholas Brie officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour prior to the service.
