Helen Cashman Halter, age 89, of Taneytown, Maryland died on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown.
Born March 12, 1920 in Taneytown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jessie (Roser) Cashman. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Henry Halter in 1990.
Helen was a 1939 graduate of Taneytown High School. She was a licensed cosmetologist and beautician for over 40 years, operating the Char-Helene Beauty Salon in Taneytown. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, and was active on numerous church committees. She was active with the Republican Club of Taneytown and with her husband in the Taneytown Lions Club.
Surviving are a son, Fred Gary Halter of Miami, Florida; sisters, Alice Crowl of Westminster, and Betty Little and husband Richard of Westminster.
She was predeceased by a sister, Margie Flickinger in 2006.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St. in Taneytown. Inurnment will be private in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Taneytown. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
