Helen Rose Downs, 93, of Taneytown, MD died peacefully Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at St. Joseph Ministries in Emmitsburg, MD. Born August 8, 1922 in Greece, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Rose Kostas. She was the wife of the late Leo Clark Downs.
Helen was a homemaker. She lived in Millsboro, DE for many years. She was a member of the Bel Air Country Club and Bush River Yacht Club. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, collecting lighthouse figurines, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are sons, Gerald Maragos and wife Mary of New Cumberland, PA, Kenneth Maragos of South Palm Beach, FL, and Donald Tischa of Austin, TX; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Rose Keller and all five of her siblings.
Services and burial at Bel Air Memorial Gardens are private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Ministries, 331 S. Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, MD, 21727. Arrangements have been entrusted to Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown.
