Helen Elizabeth Carico, 81, of Emmitsburg, MD, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg. Born August 8, 1934 in Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ann (Portner) Bushman, Sr. She was the wife of the late Norris Carico.
Helen was a nurse. She spent 29 years of her nursing career at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson. She was a member of the Emmitsburg United Presbyterian Church. Helen enjoyed traveling, collecting penguin figurines, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are sister, Mae Brown of Hagerstown; brothers, Charles “Bo” Bushman, Jr. and wife Sylvia of Emmitsburg, Thomas Bushman and wife Marlene of Waynesboro, PA, and Greg Bushman and wife Cecelia of Hagerstown, and several nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by devoted friend, John Allmiller, his dear friend Kitty, and his family. She was predeceased by brother, Dave Bushman.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Emmitsburg United Presbyterian Church, 415 W. Main St., Emmitsburg, MD, with the Rev. Lloyd Fuss officiating, Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
