Helen Belle Bear, age 98 of Westminster, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. She was born September 13, 1914 in Frederick County, daughter of the late Jesse and Dennie Belle Scheller Forney. She was the wife of the late Monroe W. Bear, who died in 1967. She formerly worked in the cafeteria at William Winchester School and was a member of Westminster Church of the Brethren. Helen’s favorite hobby was baking.
She is survived by children, Barbara and husband, Houston G. Curd, Jr. of Bonita Springs, FL, Alan “Babe” and wife, Doris Bear of Westminster and Treasa Gross and husband, William of New Windsor; sister, Hallie Creager of Westminster; grandchildren, Houston Curd III, Brent Curd and Patricia Zwaska; also survived by great grandchildren, Nathaniel Curd, Hannah Curd, Alexandra Curd, Melissa Zwaska and Eric Zwaska.
She was predeceased by siblings, Zelma Koontz, Eva Dudderar, Claude, Benton, Merton, Walter, Emory and Frank Forney and great granddaughter, Megan Curd.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday December 8, 2012 at Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster.
Interment will follow in Meadow Branch Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster and Saturday 1 hour prior to the service at Krug Chapel.
