Harvey Leon Dillon, 85, of Union Bridge, MD, died peacefully on Monday, November 6, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born Feb. 20, 1932 in Wayne, OH, he was the son of the late Don and Edith (Overmayer) Dillon. He was the husband of Hazel F. (Spence) Dillon, to whom he was married for 31 years.
Harvey was a proud veteran who served 40 years in the United States Army. Later in his life he became a Master Plumber with Charles Klein & Sons Plumbing in Eldersburg. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, farming, playing cards with the girls, and showing his antique steam engines at steam engine shows. He was a member of The Moose Lodge in Westminster and Hesson Snider American Legion Post 120 in Taneytown.
He is survived by daughter, Tisha Everly and husband Jason of Union Bridge, son Timothy McConnell and wife Jean of York, PA, son David Wayne Maxwell and wife Kathy of Essex, MD, and son John Britton of Dover, TN; grandchildren, Lillian & Zaden Everly, Andrea Oughton and husband John of FL, and David Maxwell and wife Allison of Essex, MD; great-grandchildren, Olivia & John Oughten and Oscar Maxwell; sisters, Ruth Lazor of Wayne, OH and Donna Boos and husband Ad of FL; brother, Tom Dillon and wife Marian of IL; and many nieces and nephews. Harvey is also remembered by special friend, Margaret Gallagher of Finksburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, with Celebrant John Morrill officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, November 10 at the funeral home.
