Harry "Bud" Thomas Brooks

Harry “Bud” Thomas Brooks, 91, of Hanover, PA, formerly of Finksburg, MD, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Hanover General Hospital.

Born August 2, 1926 in Finksburg, MD, he was the son of the late Harry T. and Martha (Cowan) Brooks.  He was predeceased by his wife Gertrude Dolores (Lockard) Brooks in 2002.

In his younger days Bud enjoyed duckpin bowling and men’s fast pitch softball.  He coached and umpired Finksburg little league baseball for many years.  He was a longtime usher at Sandy Mount United Methodist Church.  An avid Baltimore fan of the then Colt’s and Orioles teams, he enjoyed yardwork until he was no longer physically able.

Surviving are sons, Ted W. Brooks of Owings Mills and Doug R. Brooks and wife Melissa of Hampstead; 6 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby and Willy Brooks.

He was predeceased by a son, Thomas L. Brooks and sisters, Evelyn “Citty” Martin and Mae Starrett; and brother, Kenneth Brooks.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help the family with final expenses.
