Harold F. Beatty, age 77, of Westminster, died peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Ministries in Emmitsburg where he resided for the past year.
He was born October 19, 1937 in Belleville, Illinois, the son of the late Walter and Edna Beatty. He was the husband of the late Beverly Beatty, his wife of 46 years.
He was employed as an electronic technician at Northrup Grumann (formerly Westinghouse) for almost 40 years. He was an active member of the Church of the Open Door, where he was involved in the Royal Blue Study Group and the Super 60’s until his health prevented his attendance. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed including, gardening, beekeeping, wood carving, farming, pottery, basket weaving, blacksmithing and photography.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Vincent Malta of Frederick; son, Richard Landis of Westminster; and son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Diane Beatty of Manchester; siblings, Walter Beatty and wife Barbara of Illinois and Janet Freeman and husband Keith of Illinois; grandchildren, Frank Malta, Lauren Malta-Kessler, Allison Beatty-Hallock, Bryan, Heather, and Maura Beatty; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Hunter Kessler, Griffin Hallock, and Dulaney Malta. He is also survived by many sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster with Pastor John A. Campbell officiating. Private interment will follow in Westminster Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
