Gloria I. Beaver, age 87, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Golden Crest Assisted Living in Snydersburg.
Born May 23, 1925 in Pleasant Valley, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Geary H. and Winnie D. Harner Angell. She was the wife of Stanley M. Beaver who died in 1997.
Before retiring in 1985, she worked at Union National Bank. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ in Pleasant Valley. She served on the council and various committees and currently on the Wellness Committee. She was a graduate of Westminster High School Class of 1942. She served on her reunion committee for many years.
She enjoyed her family and friends, traveling, camping and collecting antique furniture.
Surviving are daughter Sharon Wenzing of Manchester; granddaughter Heidi Brewer and husband Charles Dell; and great granddaughter Hannah Brewer all of Manchester, Maryland; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter Deborah Ann Beaver in 2005, siblings Ellwood Angell, Esther Powell, Myrtle Hoover, Marie Crowl and Helen Gist.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Dale Krotee officiating. Interment in Pleasant Valley Cemetery will be private.
The family requests no flowers, but rather memorial contributions be made in her name to St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, 1427 Pleasant Valley Road, Westminster, MD 21158.
