Gladys Mae Bell, 95, resident of Taneytown, Maryland, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Lorien Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown.
Born July 1, 1921 at home near Emmitsburg, Maryland she was the daughter of the late Allen Edward and Emma Louisa (Stonesifer) Bollinger. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, C. Harold Bell in 2000.
Gladys worked for years at Cambridge Rubber in Taneytown, then for Westminster Knit until her retirement at the age of 70. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, and was a member of the Hesson-Snider Post #120 Auxiliary of the American Legion in Taneytown. Her favorite place to visit after her husband’s death was McDonalds. She always enjoyed spending time with and worrying about her family.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Etta and Jim McKinney of Union Bridge, Nina and Leroy Smeak of Littlestown, PA, Susan and John Click of Newport, TN; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Elda Bell of McKinney, TX; sister, Lucy Eyler; brothers, Sonny Bollinger, Joe Bollinger, Ivan Bollinger, Arvin Bollinger and wife Barbara; sister-in-law, Helen Bollinger; grandchildren, Kelly Stitely of Taneytown, Kristy Porter of Monroville, PA, Kim Stewart of Taneytown, Ketti Netz of Union Bridge, Kevin Smeak of Littlestown, PA, Lou Bell of CA, Timothy Bell of McKinney, TX, and Eric Click, Sr. of Newport, TN; great-grandchildren, Claire, Chloe, Michael, Lucas, Katarine, Jonathan, Sarah, Dylan, Abby, Joshua, Tyler, Wesley, Eric, Jr., Destinie, Zachery, Austin, Charlieh, Ryleigh; great-great-grandchildren, Avery, Teagan, Piper, Jase, Celvin, and Kaydin.
She was predeceased by sisters, Doris Rock, Mildred Wallick and husband Dennis; and by brothers, Harold Bollinger and wife Margaret, William Bollinger, Paul Bollinger and wife Irene, and Roy Bollinger; sister-in-laws, Phyllis and Phyllis Bollinger; step-granddaugher, Lora McKinney Harver.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
