Geraldine Marie Hewitt, age 70, of Emmitsburg, died peacefully Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Gettysburg Hospital Center in Gettysburg, PA. Born November 23, 1941 in Emmitsburg, she was the daughter of the late Roy & Marie Anders Little. She was the wife of Monroe Hewitt, her husband of 49 years.
Geraldine was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmitsburg. She was an Avon representative in the community for 40 years. She enjoyed family get-togethers, vacationing at Wildwood, NJ, and playing poker with family members & friends. She was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Michele Orndorff & husband, Tommy, of Emmitsburg; son, Scott Hewitt & wife, Michelle, of Thurmont; sisters, Mary Jean Orndorff & husband, Buzz, of Emmitsburg, Joyce Grimm of Thurmont, Joan Smith & husband, Dave of Emmitsburg, Carolyn Smith & husband, Karl, of Thurmont, Beth Terry & husband, Leonard, of Oakland, and Elaine Ebaugh & husband, Denny, of Emmitsburg; brothers, Leon Anders & wife, Sandy, of Taneytown, Larry Little & wife, Shirley, of Emmitsburg, and Dave Little & wife, Charlene, of Emmitsburg; grandchildren, Jaime Orndorff, Cameron & Shayne Hewitt, Mackenzie Orndorff, and Brooke Hewitt; as well as many nieces & nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 47 DePaul St, Emmitsburg, MD with the Rev. Stephen Trzecieski as celebrant. Interment will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 West Main St, Emmitsburg.
