George Tyler

George J. Tyler, 76, of Gettysburg, PA died peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at the Genesis Gettysburg Center, in Gettysburg, PA.  Born November 4, 1938 in Bakersville, NC, he was the son of the late John and Bessie May (Bates) Tyler.  He was the husband of Kathleen (Howard) Tyler, to whom he was married for 44 years.

George was a landscaper for Charles Bolte Landscaping in Pikesville for many years.  He also worked for Bosley Construction in Owings Mills.  He enjoyed fishing, cutting grass, being outdoors, telling jokes and stories, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, George L. Tyler of CA, Michael and Edee Tyler, Sr. of Brunswick, Tammy Acton and husband Conrad of VA, Patricia Long and husband Eric of WV, Mark Tyler and wife Olga of CA, Georgia Ann Thompson and husband Russell of Hanover, PA, Madeline Kipps and husband Lester of Gettysburg, PA, and John Tyler and wife Nichole of Taneytown; brother, Norman Tyler of Owings Mills; sister, Margie Heinz of Westminster; 17 grandchildren, Michael, Ray, Josh, Erica, Khloe, Patrick, Steven, and John Tyler, Michelle Keyton, Lester Kipps III, Nicole and Hannah Kipps, Tyler Murray, Fran and Steve Thompson, Ashley Long, and Michael Nelson; 8 great-grandchildren, Keira Murray, Devyn, Hailey, Peyton, and Quinn Tyler, Graysen McLane, and Brayden and Jocelyn Keyton; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate George’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD, 21787 with the Rev. Paul Matthews, III officiating.  Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
