George Roland Sauble, 68, of Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 30, 2018 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mr. Sauble retired in 2010 as a Vice-President of Omitron, Inc. and Orca, Inc.—both of Greenbelt, MD. He was an active member of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight “Bible Club” in Greenbelt.
Mr. Sauble was born on January 26, 1950, in Gettysburg, PA, the son of George Raymond and Doris Elaine (Swartzbaugh) Sauble. He married Kathy Sue Adamson on October 23, 1971, in Gettysburg, PA.
George graduated from Severna Park High School in 1968. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1972, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. George was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity on campus, where he served as President for two years.
An Eagle Scout with Troop 474 of Glen Burnie, MD, George lived most of his life in Linthicum Heights, MD, where he was involved in the community as a member of the 2001 “Flagship Class of Leadership Anne Arundel”—serving for over three years as a member of District One of the Long Range Planning Committee for Anne Arundel county. George served as commissioner of the Linthicum Apache Girls Lacrosse Program in 1991.
George loved playing golf, enjoyed woodworking, traveling and his family trips to the beach.
Mr. Sauble is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, as well as two daughters: Kristin Anne Hoffensetz, and her husband Peter of Severna Park, MD; and Janis Elaine Birch and her husband Herbert “Mac” of Ocean City, NJ. Also surviving are his mother of Westminster, MD, a brother, Scott and his wife Sharon of Dover, DE, as well as three grandsons: Adam and Andrew Hoffensetz and Miles Birch; and nephews Scott and Justin Sauble.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Raymond Sauble in 2010.
A Memorial Service will be offered Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 38 West Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until time of service. A luncheon will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
The family suggests in lieu of floral tributes, that memorial contributions be sent to Heartland Hospice, 2111 New Road, # 100, Northfield, NJ 08225. George will be lovingly remembered by his family and all those whose lives he touched here on earth.
