George E. Messenger

George E. Messenger, age 86, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Elternhaus Assisted Living in Dayton, Maryland.
Born December 9, 1926 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Jesse and Leda (Cain) Messenger. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine M. Messenger.
Mr. Messenger was a member of the Westminster Seventh-day Adventist Church. He worked as an electrician for 50 years at Columbia Union College, now Washington Adventist University. He was an avid ham radio operator, enjoyed photography, trains, good music, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are sons, David Messenger and wife Amy of Frederick, Barry Messenger and wife Deborah of Brinklow, Thomas Messenger and wife Jacqueline of Brookeville, and Ronald Messenger and wife Teresa of Gaston, OR; daughter, Susan Marcellino and husband Joseph, of Sykesville.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Mary A. Thompson; a grandson, Nathan Thompson; and siblings, Harold Messenger and Lois McGibney.
A memorial service will be held at Westminster Seventh-day Adventist Church, 320 Crest Ln, Westminster, MD at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 with Pastor Robert Martinez, Sr. and Pastor Howard Bankes officiating.  Interment at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg was private.  Arrangements were entrusted to the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
