George S. Kerr, Jr., age 67, of Fairfield, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at his home following a long battle with cancer.
Born March 16, 1943 in Richmond, California, he was the son of the late George and Nadine J. (Bauer) Kerr, Sr. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 40 years, Sharon Ann (Davis) Kerr.
George was an active member of Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro, PA. He worked for many years in underground construction and mining with the local labor union. He loved cooking for others, carpentry, and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children, George S. Kerr, III of Washington, D.C., Shiela Misner and husband Clarence of Waynesboro, PA; grandchildren Autumn and Dustin Misner; step-grandsons Scott and Tommy Misner; six great-grandchildren; sisters Sharon Stewart and husband Earl of Belgrade, MT, and Judy Shaw of Oakdale, CA.
He was predeceased by a son, Jody Kerr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the Grace Baptist Church, 623 N. Grant St., Waynesboro, PA with his pastor the Rev. John F. Huff officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Waynesboro. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
