George Robert Hemler, Sr.

George Robert Hemler, Sr., 96, of Taneytown, MD, died peacefully on Monday, May 17, 2021 at his home. Born February 18, 1925 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late Pius Leo Hemler and Katheryn Joanna Hemler, nee Megee; he was the dedicated husband of Frances Loretta Hemler, nee Cool, recently celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary on Mar 2, 2021; beloved father of George R. Hemler III and his wife Kak of South Dennis, MA, F. Christine Hammond of Taneytown, David A. Hemler and his wife Elaine of Westminster, MD, Angela T. Eyler and her husband Greg of Union Bridge, MD, Joseph V. Hemler and his wife Lisa of Taneytown, and Mary S. Linden of Taneytown; loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren, and devoted great grandfather to 20 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter, Mary Patricia Hemler, and infant children, George R. Hemler, Jr., and Frances Hemler. He was the last surviving member of his family.

Mr. Hemler was a Supervisor for Cambridge Rubber Company and Lee Metal, past member of Taneytown City Council, former Boy Scouts Troop 718 Scoutmaster, lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and member of St. Joseph Holy Name society in Taneytown. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and camping.
