George Washington Brown, Jr., 84, of Littlestown, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Gettysburg in Gettysburg, PA. Born December 23, 1931 in Carroll County, MD, he was the son of the late George and Mary Edna (Schaffer) Brown, Sr. He was the husband of the late Norma Lee (Shorb) Brown.
George was Plant Manager of 3M National Advertising in Westminster, MD for many years. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, MD, and the Taneytown Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, farming, and farm life, and was known for the strawberries he grew. George lived in Wyoming for 18 years and loved visiting Yellowstone Park.
Surviving are sons, Michael Brown of Gettysburg, PA, and David Brown of Westminster, MD; sister, Joan Pickett and husband Calvin of Mt. Airy, MD; brother, Dean Brown and wife Wilma, of Taneytown, MD; grandchildren, Kristin Cluster and husband Alex of Hanover, PA, and son Steve’s children, Jessica, Eric, Jonathan, and Jason; great-granddaughter, Katie Marie Cluster; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons, Steve and Doug Brown, and by sister, Bonnie Hawk.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD, 21787, with the Rev. Cristopher Frigm officiating. Inurnment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
