Geneva Christina (Flater) Hugg

June 28, 1955 — December 1, 2013

Geneva “Chris” Christina Flater Hugg, age 58, of Westminster, Maryland, went to serve the Lord peacefully in her sleep following a 2 year battle with uterine cancer on Sunday, December 1, 2013.
She was born June 28, 1955 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John Arnold Flater and Geneva Gladys (Waltz) Flater.  She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Lawrence Irwin Hugg.
Chris was a graduate of Westminster High School Class of 1973 and the vo/tech textile fabrication program.  In her early years she worked on the George and Mildred Harris farm in Westminster.  She worked for 38 years at Random House in Westminster in various job titles.  She enjoyed gardening, growing and arranging flowers, working in her yard, bird and butterfly watching, and trips to Vermont.  She also enjoyed square dancing with the Gingham Squares.  She was a dedicated caregiver to her brother James for many years until her illness prevented her in continuing.  She loved her cat Nicodemus.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter, Amanda Hugg and husband Sourabh Verma of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Matthew Hugg and companion Reanna Lohrmann of Westminster; grandson, Devan Patrick Verma; brothers, John Flater of Baltimore and James Flater of Randallstown; sister, Libby Ness of Hebron, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Frances Waltz.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster.  Interment in Deer Park Methodist Cemetery will be private at a later date.
