Gary Lee Shipley, 64, of Gettysburg, PA, formerly of Westminster, MD, died peacefully on Monday, September 11, 2017 at his home.
Born August 26, 1953 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of Floyd K. Shipley, Sr. and Janice (Hiner) Shipley of Westminster.
Gary was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1971. He was often found working on the “Shipley” family farm as a young boy. He worked as an over the road truck driver for K.W. Miller, Pickens & Sons, Jano Enterprises, and most recently SCC. He owned his own pro street rod and enjoyed taking it to local car shows. He enjoyed listening to classic country music, fishing, NASCAR, spending time with his family, and just having a good ole time.
Surviving in addition to his parents are daughters, Angela L. Eckhardt and husband Richard of Hanover, PA and Kayla E. Shipley and fiancée Jake Martin of Gettysburg, PA; 5 grandchildren; companion, Marion Herkel; siblings, Karen Jenkins of Westminster, MD, Connie Taylor of Hebron, MD, Pam Poole of Middletown, MD, and Floyd “Jr.” K. Shipley, Jr. of Hampton, PA. He was loved by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was pre-deceased by paternal grandparents, Harvey R. and Mamie (Gist) Shipley; maternal grandparents, William Roy and Mamie (Humbert) Hiner.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. from the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster with Pastor John Poole officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Westminster. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the funeral home.
