Gary Wayne Abrecht

Gary Wayne Abrecht, 75, of Westminster, passed on Monday, February 21, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. Gary was born on January 6, 1947 in MD. He was the son of the late Oma Louise nee Foreman and George Alan Myers.

Gary was retired from the Social Security Administration, where he worked as an Information Technology Manager. He loved going to Mount Saint Mary’s basketball and Frederick Keys baseball games. His favorite memories were family vacations to Disney World. The most important thing in life to Gary was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife Carolyn nee Sprecht Abrecht; daughter, Kristin Hughes and her husband Rob of Westminster; grandchildren, Skyler and Lincoln Thomey, Emma and Owen Hughes; sister, Vicki Crampton of Waynesboro, PA.

Gary was predeceased by his infant sister Terry Ann and brother Ricky Lane.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Grace U.C.C. Cemetery.
