Freeland Leroy Shaffer, age 57, of Taneytown, Maryland, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at his home.
Born August 10, 1951 in Westminster, Maryland, he was the son of the late Leonard F. and Virginia C. (Bowers) Shaffer.
He was a member of the Harney V.F.W., Westminster Moose, and the Littlestown Eagles. He enjoyed yardwork and gardening.
Surviving are children, Chad D. Shaffer and wife Kim of Fairfield, PA, Shari L. Stone and husband Dave of Fairfield, PA, grandchildren, Kacey, Kamryn and Christopher Shaffer, David, Alexander, Andrew, Kyle, and Kaylee Stone, siblings, Darlene L. Slaybaugh of Beltsville, Robert F. Shaffer and wife Vicky of Hampstead, and Carroll E. Shaffer and wife Ellen of Fayettville, PA. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are by the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, Maryland.
