Fred Leroy Hyser, Sr., 78, of Gettysburg, PA died peacefully Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at Genesis Healthcare Center in Gettysburg. Born April 27, 1933 in Taneytown, MD, he was the son of the late Alvie & Naomi Hilbert Hyser. He was the husband of Betty Fogle Hyser, his wife of 55 years.
He was a member of Piney Creek Presbyterian Church near Harney. He was a supervisor for 25 years with Westminster Knit Company. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, watching the Orioles and spending time with family & friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are son, Fred Hyser, Jr. of Gettysburg; granddaughter, Sarah Ann Hyser of Gettysburg; and brothers, Ray Hyser of Westminster and Clarence “Sonny” Hyser of Union Bridge. He was predeceased by children, Patricia, Michael & Rhonda Hyser; sister, Thelma Bauerlein; and step-brother, John Hyser.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, January 6 at Piney Creek Presbyterian Church, 4472 Harney Rd., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. Paul Matthews, III officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St, Taneytown, MD.
