Frank O. Wargny, 91, of Taneytown died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia.
Born August, 27, 1917, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Oscar and Anna Wargny. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Florence G. Wargny.
He received a Bachelor of Education degree from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University), a Master of Arts from Johns Hopkins University, and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Maryland. Frank was the principal of the Taneytown Elementary School from 1953 to his retirement in 1977.
In retirement, he enjoyed sharing the lawn swing with Florence, painting, music, the family pets, morning coffee with friends, and leading classes at various retirement homes in Carroll County.
Surviving are daughters Nancy Wargny and husband Michael Cowan of Montreal and Patricia Grant and husband Donald of Highland; and grandchildren Tracy Chick of Montreal, Stephanie Grant of Candler, N.C., and Taylor Grant of Highland.
A private graveside service for the family will be held on Sunday in Grace United Church of Christ Cemetery in Taneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are by the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown, Maryland.
