Frank Noble Treuchet, 86, of Westminster died peacefully Monday, November 18, 2013 at his residence in Carroll Lutheran Village. Born October 12, 1927 in Springfield, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Frank and Eleanor Noble Treuchet Sr. He was the husband of Etta Sharpe Treuchet to whom he was married for 59 years.
Frank was a veteran of World War II. He joined the United States Coast Guard as a Merchant Seaman at the age of 15 and served until 1944. At that time he entered the United States Navy and served for another 9 years. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns but chose to continue his schooling at Springfield College where he earned degrees in education and history and became an all-star football player. Frank taught history at St. Paul School for Boys in Concord, NH and coached the lacrosse and wrestling teams there. Summers were spent teaching at Camp Pinnacle in Massachusetts. He moved his family to Reisterstown, MD where he taught history and coached at Milford Mill High School. He became an Administrative Assistant at Catonsville High School and continued coaching while earning a master’s degree at Western Maryland College in Westminster. He became principal of Milford Mill High School where he developed the Maryland State Wrestling Tournament program with fellow coach and friend, John Lowe. He then became principal of Franklin Middle School in Reisterstown and served in that capacity for 10 years. Frank enjoyed operating the James Benson Christmas Tree Farm in Reisterstown. Upon retiring from Baltimore County Public Schools in 1987, he became a volunteer at the Irvine Nature Center in Owings Mills. He received an award in 1999 for his many years of service to the Maryland State Wrestling Tournament program, and earned a Lifetime Service-to-Wrestling award from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2004. Frank was an avid naturalist and loved spending time outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son, Ken Treuchet and wife Bess of Finksburg; daughter, Linda DeCarlo and husband Robert of Reisterstown; and grandchildren, Hunter Treuchet and wife Allison of Mary Esther, FL, Austen and Carter Treuchet, both of Finksburg, Holly DeCarlo-White and husband Alex of Tampa, FL, and Lisa Rodriguez and husband Robert of Reisterstown.
