Frank Paul Kratz III, 86, of Taneytown, MD died peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster.  Born April 16, 1931 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Frank Paul and Frances (Whitehead) Kratz II.  He was the loving husband of Ann (Wright) Kratz, to whom he was married for nearly 65 years.

Frank was a pharmacist for many years with Franklin Square and Maryland General Hospitals in Baltimore.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown and the Knights of Columbus and was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  He enjoyed woodworking and was well-known for being handy with home projects.  He was an avid reader and, in recent years, had enjoyed painting with acrylics.

Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife Ann, are his son, Frank Paul “Skip” Kratz IV and wife Joan of Westminster; daughter, Judy Kratz and husband Sharif Rushdi of Chantilly, VA; brother, J. Thomas Kratz and wife Patricia of Ocean Pines, MD; a cousin, Patricia Lavenstein of Towson; granddaughter, Patricia Ann “Trish” Rogers of Westminster; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, MD, 21787 with Father John F. Lesnick and Monsignor Martin E. Feild as celebrants.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, January 11th at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Frank’s name may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church at the above address.
