Florence Elizabeth Knox, age 86, of Taneytown, Maryland died peacefully on Saturday April 24, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Littlestown, Pennsylvania.
Born February 27, 1924 in Fairfield, PA she was the daughter of the late John Preston and Elizabeth M. (Shriner) Sanders. She was predeceased by her husband George Francis Knox in 1975.
Florence was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Taneytown. She was a homemaker for most of her life, and a very devoted wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are children, Mary Baran of Littlestown, Ann Hansen of Littlestown, George Knox of Fla., Jane Hubbard of Emmitsburg, Florence Knox of Littlestown, Donald Knox of Taneytown, Joan Taylor of North Beach, Barbara Keilholtz of Taneytown, Joyce Knox of Littlestown, Janet Knox of Leonardtown, Joseph Knox of Taneytown, Steven Knox of Fla., and Teresa Morrissey of Woodsboro; 39 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sons, Glenn, James, and Kenneth Knox, and by siblings, Jesse, Naomi, L. Blaine, Sr., Percy, Earl, and Daniel Sanders, Emma Marshall, Betty Harner, and Ethel Thomas.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Monsignor Martin E. Feild as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Taneytown. There will be no public visitation.
