Florence Irene Baumgardner, 91 of Westminster, MD, died peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at her home. Born September 24, 1924 in Washington County, VA, she was the daughter of the late James and Ginny (Price) Lewis. She was the wife of John M. Baumgardner, who died in 1987.
Florence was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She loved her family and would do anything to help them. She was a Sunday School teacher at the Warfieldsburg Bible Church for many years, and also worked in the church nursery. She was a member of Bark Hill Bible Church. Florence enjoyed flowers, writing poems, and drawing.
Surviving are 9 children, Shirley Bauerlien of Taneytown, MD, Grace Keeney and husband George of New Windsor, Ray Baumgardner and wife Bertha of Westminster, Bobby Baumgardner and wife Kathy of Westminster, Phyllis Warner and husband Mike of New Windsor, Shannon Baumgardner of Westminster, Lonnie Baumgardner and wife Wanetta of New Windsor, and Billy Baumgardner and Linda Rollison, both of Westminster; brother, James “Jim” Garfield Lewis, Jr. and wife Georgia Brown Lewis of Abingdon, VA; nephews, James Lewis III of Abingdon, VA, and Marshall Lewis of Bristol, TN; 25 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 32 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by 2 sons, Delmar and David Baumgardner; and a brother, Earnestine Lewis.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD, 21157, with the Reverend Dr. Thomas Darner officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
