Florence Evelyn Althoff, age 83, of Keymar, Maryland, died peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2013 at home.
Born March 8, 1930 in Bruceville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late William and Maude Otto Stitely. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, John Paul Althoff in 2005.
Florence worked for a time at Carroll Shoe and Cambridge Rubber Factories. She attended Barkhill Bible Church and enjoyed gardening and reading. She especially loved all animals and her pets.
Surviving are children, Paul Althoff and wife Sue of Hanover, PA, Robert Althoff of Keymar, MD, Joseph Althoff and wife Genevieve of Kearneysville, W.VA., Deborah Renaut and husband Paul of Hanover, PA, Sharon Althoff of Keymar, MD, Brenda David and husband John of Hanover, PA, John Althoff and Mark Althoff both of Keymar, MD; 8 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Norman, Roland, Earl, and Truman Stitely; and by sisters, Ruth Long, Pearl Bollinger, and Margie Stitely.
The family will receive friends on Wednesay, June 26, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick, Maryland.
