Flora Ardell “Flo” Few, 80, of Taneytown, MD died peacefully at Carroll Hospice Dove House following a brief illness Friday, April 11, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born July 31, 1933 in Canonsburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Elizabeth Durbin Fonner.
Flo was a cook at the Carroll County Detention Center for 10 years, and Carroll Hospital Center for 13 years. She was a volunteer cashier at Barrister’s Café at the Carroll County Courthouse for 15 years. She was a member of Piney Creek Presbyterian Church near Harney. She enjoyed Dunkin Donuts coffee and having her nails done. She was a collector of angels. Flo was known for the many cards she sent to people and for the way she loved and cared for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very caring and generous person who contributed to many charities.
Surviving are daughter, Jamie Kreitz and fiancé Eric Drolsum of Taneytown; grandchildren, Heather Lewelling of Keymar, Ryan Kreitz of Taneytown, Sara Eckard and husband Michael of Union Bridge, and Kaitlyn Erb and husband Robert of Ft. Hood, TX; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Jacob Jones, and John Erb. She was predeceased by sisters, Donna Kasko and Betty Fonner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with the Rev. H. Paul Matthews III officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Silver Run. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
