Everly E. Spurrier, 96, of Finksburg, died Tuesday afternoon, October 15, 2013 at Brinton Woods Assistant Living in Sykesville.
Born October 13, 1917 in Asbestos, Maryland (now Finksburg), he was the son of the late Ernest L. and Viola M. Barnes Spurrier. He was the husband of the late Alice M. Peregoy Spurrier, to whom he was married for 40 years.
Mr. Spurrier was employed with the Baltimore City Watershed Police for 22 years and as a carpenter in Local Union 101, Baltimore. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and minor carpentry projects. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Ravens fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR races and golf on television.
Surviving are children and spouses, Debbie and John Goodwin of Finksburg, Dennis and Susanne Spurrier of Georgia, Everly and Carol Spurrier, Jr. of West Virginia, Susan Redding and Phyllis Shupe of Westminster; Sister, Louise Meyers of Westminster; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Forrest Spurrier and a brother, Leroy Spurrier.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Chaplain Jimmie L. Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion U. M. Cemetery in Finksburg.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM.
