Evangeline G. Truesdell, age 96, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland and Surf Side Beach, S.C., died peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Lorien Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taneytown.
Born August 16, 1918 in Rye, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. H. Paul Guhse’ and Dorothy Marie (Meinsinger) Guhse’. She was predeceased by her husband Charles W. Truesdell.
Vange lived her life to the fullest, was a renowned spitfire, and possessed an infectious zest which profoundly impacted all those around her. She practiced wellness and yoga for many years, and enjoyed keeping her mind sharp with knowledge of current events. She was a social worker and mentor to many inner city Baltimore children. Known as “Granny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their friends, her stories and adventures of times spent with them will live on.
Surviving are children, Charline Jones of Annapolis, Md., Gail “Gay” Tanis and husband Dirk of Rock Hill, S.C., Paul Truesdell and wife Jill of Norfolk, Va., and Dorothy “Dort” Mollett and husband Richard of Taneytown; grandchildren, Chuck Jones, Brandon and Ryan Mollett, Dirk Tanis, Jr., Novalee Truesdell, and Julia Gray; great-grandchildren, Severn, Isabelle, Quinn, Maddy and Dorothy Jones, Sasha, Elizabeth, Beckett and Matthew Mollett, Gwennie Tanis, and Lottie Gray.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Jay Jones, and by 3 brothers.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at a later date and will be private. Private inurnment will be held in the Truesdell family plot in Sherburne, N.Y.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Taneytown.
