Ernest Lee “Butch” Bryson, 74, of Taneytown, MD, died on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster, MD. Born October 25, 1946 in Mt. Savage, MD, he was the son of Mary (Shaffer) Bryson of Cumberland, MD, and the late James Bryson. He was the husband of the late Brenda Carol (Slater) Bryson, his wife of 34 years.
Butch was a graduate of Allegany High School, class of ’66. He was an employee of the Maryland State Highway Department for over 40 years. He enjoyed listening to old country music, woodworking, tinkering with anything in his garage, camping, fishing, boating, grilling, working Sodoku puzzles, bowling (in his younger years), spending time with family and friends, and daily phone calls to his daughter without missing a single day, which will be dearly missed. Weeks prior to his death, Butch told his daughter Tina that he had lived a good life and had no regrets. He gave out love to everyone he met, and will be greatly missed by so many.
Surviving are his daughter, Tina Hall and significant other Christopher Kursch, of Blue Ridge Summit, PA; sister, Mary Faye Lease and husband Bobby of Cheektowaga, NY; Butch’s significant other of 15 years, Mary Lowe, of Taneytown; grandson, Zachary Hall and wife Courtney Sanders of Hanover, PA; granddaughter, Lindsey Hall of Taneytown; bonus granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kursch of Blue Ridge Summit, PA; great-granddaughter, Marissa Hall of Hanover, PA; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and caring friends who were much like family to him. In addition to his wife Brenda and his father James, he was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Perry.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/MDFHWestminster for those unable to attend. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran cemetery in Uniontown. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12th at the funeral home..
