Erik Thomas Mccarson

Erik T. McCarson, age 51, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Alexandria, Virginia on May 20, 2024. Erik was the son of Ronald and Bonnie McCarson of Hughesville, MD; and the father of Cole and Evan McCarson of Wilmette, Illinois.

Erik was a veteran of the US Navy where he served as a Cryptological Technician, specializing in electronic intelligence systems. He spent his post Navy career as an Information Security and Network Reliability Engineer, supporting the global financial and services industries. Erik held many professional certifications in the field of Information Security and earned an Associate of Arts degree from the University System of Maryland. Erik cherished the close relationships he built throughout his life, especially with family, coworkers and friends, and he was an avid University of Maryland football and basketball fan. Erik was known for his witty sense of humor and felt a day without laughter was a day wasted.

Erik is survived by his parents, Ronald and Bonnie McCarson of Hughesville, Maryland; his children Cole and Evan of Wilmette, Illinois; his brother James of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; sister Dawn Van Der Stuyf (Andrew) of Eldersburg, Maryland; and niece and nephew (Julianna Robinson and Drew Van Der Stuyf).

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Ascension Episcopal Church in Westminster, MD 21157. Online condolences may be offered at www.myersdurborawfh.com.
