Erich August “Bud” Ganjon, Sr., age 85, of Westminster, died on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Carroll Hospital Center. Born April 15, 1938, in Baltimore, he was the son of German immigrants, the late Erich and Thekla Ganjon. He was the loving husband of Cindy (Eppley) Ganjon, who married in June 2006.
Erich was raised in Marriottsville, MD and graduated from Millford Mill High School in 1956. He farmed in Winfield where he raised his family then moved to Westminster where he became a farm machinery mechanic and repairman with a fully stocked service truck traveling all over the area to farmers when called for breakdowns. His favorite piece of machinery was balers. Later he turned to doing spring tune ups and repairs on lawn mowers for friends and family.
Over the years he made many toys for his grandchildren including peddle tractors, wagons, wooden airplanes and a miniature scale Moline tractor for himself that he rode around at tractor shows. He enjoyed collecting antique tractors and attending antique tractor shows, white water canoeing, hiking, repelling, mountain climbing and biking. He especially loved the annual fishing trips to Ocracoke Island, NC where he would meet up with friends he had met there over the years. He and his wife also grew a large garden every year to share their harvest with family and friends. He loved his cats.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Manchester.
Besides his wife he is survived by, sons, Erich Jr., Scott and his wife Michelle, Jeff and Daniel Ganjon all of Westminster and Paul Ganjon and his wife Wanda of Littlestown, PA; daughters, Michele Green and husband Rob of Westminster and Kelly Miller of Hanover PA; sister-in-law, Judy Bixler; brother-in-law Randy Eppley and wife Karen; former wife Sue Ganjon; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, George Ganjon and his wife Alvina, Richard Ganjon and his wife Doris; son-in-law Steve Miller; brothers-in-law, Michael Bixler, Gary Eppley and Jorge David and sister-in-law Nancy David.
A memorial service will be held at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster MD at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, with John Mike Myers, friend of the family, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday June 8, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
