Emmy Regina (Müller) Neugebauer

Emmy Regina (nee Müller) Neugebauer, 86, of Fairfield, PA, beloved wife of the late Helmut Kurt Neugebauer, died on Friday, September 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born on July 7, 1938 in Friesoythe, Germany to the late Georg and Franciska (nee Schulte) Müller.  In 1964, Emmy and Helmut left Germany with two suitcases and $500 to their name and moved to Brooklyn, NY, in search of better climates and to pursue the American dream. With her skills as a bookkeeper, she was employed at Cox & Co. in Manhattan, NY before moving to Fairfield for a quieter life and to start a family with her husband.  As her children grew older, she returned to work as a bookkeeper and was employed at Ski Liberty and Carroll Valley Golf Course.

Emmy enjoyed gardening, traveling, and lunch dates with friends and family. She loved attending concerts and listening to classical music. She cherished the times she spent with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Monica Butteriss and husband Ian of Silver Spring, MD, Thomas Neugebauer and wife Jennifer of Ellicott City, MD, grandchildren Nicholas and Clare Butteriss, and Connor Neugebauer, and her brother Ludger Müller. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Hans and Berndt Müller.

The family will receive friends for a time of remembrance on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main Street, Emmitsburg, MD 21727. Inurnment will be private.
