Elsworth “Buck” Leroy Shamer, Jr., age 75 of New Windsor, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. He was born August 5, 1934 in Patapsco, MD the son of the late Elsworth “Rube” L. Shamer, Sr. and Anna L. Flater Shamer Walsh. He was the husband of the late Bonnie L. Kegerreis Shamer who died in 1970. He was a 1952 graduate of Westminster High School and served in the U.S. Navy during Korea. He retired in 1988 after 27 years as a repairman specialist at Black & Decker. He was a member of the F.O.E. Eagles in Hanover, PA. He loved bowling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lori K. and Les Douglas and Robin L. and Carl Strine all of New Windsor; brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Richard K. and Juanita “Neat” Shamer of Finksburg; 2 granddaughters, Bonnie and Annie Douglas; nephews, John, Kent and Mark Shamer; close friend, Richard “Dick” Nusbaum of Westminster.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 5th 11:00 A.M. at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis Street, Westminster with Pastor Carl T. Strine, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Patapsco United Methodist Cemetery in Finksburg.
The family will receive friends Friday 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
