Elsie Yvonne (Snook) Vaughn

Elsie Yvonne Vaughn (Snook), age 88 of Taneytown, MD passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Vitality Living in Hendersonville, TN.  She was born June 6, 1935, in Taneytown, MD to Charles O. and Anna E. (Bishop) Foreman.

She worked most of her life as a homemaker on the family farm on Baptist Road and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taneytown.  While she spent some of her early years working in a clerical capacity, being on the farm with her husband, Gene, was the highlight of her life.  She also worked for many years as a school bus aide for the ARC of Carroll County where she enjoyed working with young children with special needs.

In addition to spending much of her time working on the farm, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She loved visiting and playing cards with friends, going to her high school reunions, cooking and baking and volunteering her time with the church and school.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joys of her life, and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them despite the miles that separated them.  She attended as many grandparents’ days, graduations, sporting events, music concerts and awards ceremonies as she could.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlin Eugene Vaughn; daughter, Laurie Jean Vaughn; and sister, Oma Louise Myers.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra Ann (Sid) Naylor of White House, TN and Stacy Jo (Greg) Critzer of Abingdon, MD; 4 grandchildren, Casey, Luke, Niko, and Braeden; 3 great-grandchildren, Carter, Miles and Roxy; and her beloved cat, Bee.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Impact Fellowship, 650 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066 at 11:00 am Central Time. Additionally, a Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore Street, Taneytown, MD 21787 at 10-11 am. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am; Inurnment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
