August 28, 1935 — August 31, 2017

Elsie H. Elsie was a switchboard operator at Cambridge Rubber Company in Taneytown for many years.  She enjoyed flower gardening, meeting with her friends in the Lord’s Lunch Bunch, and attending church services and activities at Keysville Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trinity United Methodist Church in Emmitsburg, and Tom’s Creek United Methodist Church just outside of Emmitsburg.  Elsie was a dedicated woman of faith and a true disciple-maker for Jesus.  She loved writing letters and sending cards to people.  She sponsored a child overseas many years ago.  Her name was Gladys, and Elsie corresponded with her regularly, as Gladys grew into adulthood.  Most of all, Elsie loved spending time with her family and with her many pets.

Surviving are sons, David Peters and wife Donna of Farmville, VA, Michael Peters and wife Karen of Taneytown, and Eric Peters and wife Karin of Spotsylvania, VA; niece, Diane Moul and husband Craig of Hanover, PA; nephews, Larry Clark and wife Joyce of Westminster, and Alan Clark and wife Carol of Gate City, VA; 9 grandchildren, Timothy, Tonya, Lori, Michael, Brandon, Andrea, Joshua, Colton and Cody; and 15 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by sister, Althea Clark Murrells, and grandson, David Wayne Peters, Jr.

A memorial service to celebrate Elsie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Keysville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7301 Keysville Rd., Keymar, MD, with Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. and Pastor Andy Peck-McClain officiating.   Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME in Taneytown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD, 21157.
