Elizabeth M. Shindledecker, age 104,of Fairfield, Pennsylvania formerly of Emmitsburg, Maryland, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Comfort Care Assisted Living in Fairfield, PA.
Born November 14, 1906 in Frederick Co., Maryland she was the daughter of the late Clarence O. and Ellen C. (Houck) Snyder. She was predeceased by her husband, Roscoe A. Shindledecker in 1982.
Elizabeth was a life long and oldest member of Elias Lutheran Church in Emmitsburg and member of the Lutheran Church Women. She was retired after working 30 years as a seamstress with the Emmitsburg Manufacturing Company. She attended the Emmitsburg Senior Center and loved knitting, sewing, crocheting, and crafts.
She is survived by nieces, Carrie Andrew, Rebecca Warner, and Shirley Wilson all of Taneytown; nephews, Clarence “Moe” Snyder of Thurmont, Thomas Snyder of Frizzellburg, Roland Snyder of Taneytown; special and devoted cousins, Cecelia Hobbs of Fairfield and her daughter Beverly Seier of Carlisle; and several great nieces and great nephews.
She was the last of her family having been predeceased by brothers, Maurice Snyder, and Jeremiah “Jerry” Snyder and sisters, Margaret Grace Snyder and Marion Ruth Feeser, and by nephews, Robert “Bill” Snyder and Larry Snyder.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 29, 2010 at Elias Lutheran Church, 100 W. North St., Emmitsburg, with her pastor the Rev. Jon R. Greenstone officiating. Interment will follow in the Elias Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Emmitsburg.
