Elizabeth "Libby" Loudenslager

February 17, 1923 — September 24, 2012

Elizabeth Marie “Libby” Loudenslager, age 89 of Westminster, died Monday September 24, 2012 at Carroll Hospice Dove House. She was born February 17, 1923 in Linden, Virginia, daughter of the late Henry and Susie (Costello) Rutherford. She was the wife of the late Marshall E. Loudenslager who died in 2009.
Libby was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Westminster and was active in the Super 60’s and Soul Winners. She volunteered at the Carroll Christian School lunch room, enjoyed attending gospel hymn sings and traveling in her motorhome. She was a nature enthusiast and especially enjoyed watching blue birds. She was proud of her Native American heritage. She enjoyed the company and activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are daughters, Judy Hewett and husband Bill of Benson, N.C., and Sharon Loudenslager of Stephenson, VA.; granddaughters, Roxane Stein and husband Jack, and Kristin Jones and husband Darren all of Wilmington, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew Stein, Madeline and Lily Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
Also survived by sisters-in-law, Betty Deitz of Randallstown, Margaret McGarity of Towson, Helen Burton of Linthicum and Virginia Palmer of Sykesville.
She was predeceased by brothers, Buster, Woodrow and James Rutherford; sisters, Ethel Smallwood, Pauline Jette and Maybelle McDonald.
The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM, on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Church of the Open Door, 550 Baltimore Blvd., Westminster with Rev. Dr. Rick Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow the church reception at Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Carroll Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
Arrangements are by the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home in Westminster.
