Eleanor Weibley Burkhardt, 83, of Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster died peacefully Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster. Born November 12, 1930 in Carlisle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Evelyn Bankert Weibley. She was the wife of the late Rev. Albert R. Burkhardt, who died in 1997.
Eleanor was a homemaker and pastor’s wife who enjoyed teaching Sunday School and participating in women’s group activities. She enjoyed volunteering at Carroll Lutheran Village and participating in Bible study there. She was a member of St. Luke’s (Winters) Lutheran Church near New Windsor.
Surviving are sons, Mark Burkhardt and wife Louise of Hoffman Estates, IL, and Brent Burkhardt and wife Andrea Vernot of Cambridge, MD; and grandchildren, Sarah, Brian, and Alexandra Burkhardt.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial service to celebrate Eleanor’s life at 11 a.m., at Krug Chapel at Carroll Lutheran Village, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, MD with the Rev. Anne C. Durboraw and the Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz co-officiating. Burial will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery in Baltimore.
