Edwina Hambleton Earp

July 30, 1920 — January 2, 2015

Edwina Hambleton Earp, 94, of Westminster and formerly of Olney, died peacefully on Friday morning, January 2, 2015 at Carroll Lutheran Village Healthcare Center.
Born July 30, 1920 in Madison, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late James I. and Mabel Nichol Hambleton.  Edwina’s father, James, was for many years the head of the Department of Apiculture, located in Beltsville, MD.  She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Harold E. Earp, Jr. She taught elementary school in the early years of her marriage to Harold, while he served in the United States Army Air Corps, as a pilot, during World War II.
She was a 1942 graduate of the University of Maryland, majoring in Home Economics.  She was a member of the Montgomery General Hospital Women’s Auxiliary Board, where she spent many hours volunteering in different capacities. She also was a member of the Friendship Garden Club, the Colonial Garden Club, the Montgomery County Horticultural Society, and the Tri-Delta Sorority.  She enjoyed gardening, knitting, quilting, sewing, creating doll houses and entertaining her family.
Surviving her is a daughter, Jane M. Berry and husband, Doug of Perkiomenville, PA; sons, J. Michael Earp and wife, Lynn of Westminster and Bruce H. Earp and wife, Barbara of Clarksville, MD; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  She was also predeceased by sisters, Jean Miller and Nancy Chance.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
