Edward Allen Rhoades, Sr., age 79, of Emmitsburg, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Gettysburg Hospital in Gettysburg, PA. Born July 23, 1932 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late William Scott Rhoades and the late Ruth Allen Rhoades McDonough. He was the husband of Margaret C. Wright Rhoades.
He spent the majority of his career as a foreman with the B&O Railroad.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are son, Edward Allen Rhoades, Jr. & wife, Tracy, of Silver Spring, MD; daughters, Mary Kathleen Huffman & husband, Billy, of Thurmont, MD and Margot C. Rhoades & husband, Jeff Boone, of Thurmont, MD; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Rock Creek Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Tuesday, December 27. Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Carroll County, Inc., 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD, 21158.
