Edward H. Losiewicz, 86, of Keymar, MD, died peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, MD.  Born January 1, 1931 in Bayonne, NJ, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Potocki) Losiewicz.  He was the husband of the late Helen (Michelus) Losiewicz, to whom he was married for 55 years.

Ed was a graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ, class of 1952.  He worked for the United States Food and Drug Administration as a Chief Chemist for 30 years.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown, MD, where he formerly served as a Eucharistic Minister, Parish Council President, and Religious Education Teacher. He began inclusive mass for individuals with developmental disabilities in Cook County, IL.  He was a member of the Taneytown Knights of Columbus for 20 years, and served as past Grand Knight of Council 11631 and Sir Knight with Assembly 379.  In 2005, Ed and his family were named Maryland State Council Knights of Columbus Family of the Year.  Ed also served as a Cub Master and as president of the local PTA.  He enjoyed traveling, outdoor activities, cooking, baking, gardening, dancing, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are son Edward “Eddie” Losiewicz, Jr. of Keymar, daughter Michele Weddle and husband Dwayne of Keymar, and sons Stanley Losiewicz & wife Shirley of Kearneysville, WV, and Andrew Losiewicz & wife Shannon of Westmanland, ME; sister, Theresa Losiewicz of Sussex, NJ; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  He will also be missed by special friends, Sabina Kowalski and Sue O’Toole.  He was predeceased by brothers, Walter and Stanley Losiewicz, and sister, Florence Burks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 44 Frederick St., Taneytown, MD, 21787, with Father John F. Lesnick as celebrant.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD.
