Edna Irene Fridinger, 90, of Westminster, MD, died peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born January 22, 1926 in Patapsco, she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Blanche Elizabeth (Wagner) Taylor, Sr. She was the wife of Sterling Adam Fridinger, who died in 2009.
Edna was a seamstress. She and her husband Sterling were employed together in the clothing industry throughout their working years, beginning with Webster Clothing in Westminster. They enjoyed vacationing annually, traveling throughout the United States. She was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Westminster, having transferred her membership from Carrollton Church of God when she married the man who would be the love of her life. Edna and her beloved Sterling were married for 67 years.
In addition to her husband, Edna was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Taylor Spencer, who died of cancer at the age of 34, and brothers, Edgar Taylor and Cpl. Grover Cleveland “Cleve” Taylor, Jr., who was lost at sea in 1953 with 28 other young Marines during the Korean War. Edna is survived by several nieces and nephews and many devoted friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster, MD, with Pastor Dave Meador of Carrollton Church of God officiating. Burial will follow at the Carrollton Church Cemetery. Friends are welcome to gather at 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
