Edgar ‘Ed” D. Shaffer, age 78 of Westminster, passed peacefully at BridgingLife (Dove House) in Westminster on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Born March 27, 1946, to the late David a. Shaffer, Sr., and Helen M. Shaffer.
Ed served in the Army from 1963 to 1964. He retired from Baltimore Sun Paper as a truck driver in 1999. He attended Westminster Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the American Legion Post #31. He loved horse racing, enjoyed watching the Ravens and Orioles play, and going to breakfast every Saturday morning with his close friends, the “breakfast Club”, and favorite server, Debbie at Bob Evens Restaurant.
He is survived by his son, Adam Shaffer of Crisfield, MD; brother, David Shaffer, Jr., and wife Ann of Manchester; sisters, Charlotte Kibler of Westminster and Wanda Phillips of Stephenville, TX, many nieces and nephews and good friends Allen and Gerri Rhodes.
He is predeceased by his sister-in-law Shirley Shaffer; niece, Cathy Shaffer, brothers-in-law, Millard Kibler and Bob Phillips.
His family and close friends would like to thank BridgingLife (Dove House) for their care and compassion.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St. Westminster, MD 21157 at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Westminster.
