Earl Kenneth Lookingbill

Earl Kenneth Lookingbill, age 76, of Taneytown, died peacefully at his home Friday, December 30, 2011 with his family by his side. Born January 7, 1935 in Taneytown, he was the son of the late George & Edna Legore Lookingbill. He was the husband of Linda Bull Lookingbill.

He spent 20 years as a Baltimore County firefighter and 55 years as a volunteer with the Taneytown Fire Company. He was a life-member of the Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company and served as past-chief & past-president. He also worked for Stambaugh Excavating for 15 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a life-member of AMVETS Post 172 in Fairfield, PA. He enjoyed Friday-night poker, traveling, camping, and spending time with friends & family, especially his 4 grandsons.

Surviving in addition to his wife are step-son, Scott Black & wife Dena of Taneytown; step-daughter, Norma Austin and husband, Craig, of Taneytown; sisters, Charlotte Lookingbill and Dorothy Hostetter of Taneytown; grandsons, Mitchell, Brenden, Dillen & Evan; and daughters, Shirley, Sharon & Tina. He was predeceased by brothers, Glen, Charles & Francis Lookingbill.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 4 , 2012 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 38 W. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD with Pastors Josh & Rachel Semovoski & Deacon Charles E. Barnhart, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown, MD. A firefighters’ memorial service will be held at 8 p.m.
